MMG's Century Operation, located in North-West Queensland, is Australia's largest open pit zinc mine. In production since 2000, Century comprises an open pit mine and concentrator at Lawn Hill uniquely linked by an underground slurry pipeline to the dewatering and shipping facility at the Karumba Port.

Due to further growth within our Training and Development team, we are currently looking for experienced Training Officers – High Risk Mobile Equipment to join our Lawn Hill, Century Mine site.

Reporting to the Superintendent Training and Development, you will be responsible for ensuring that training and competency standards are met fulfilling all statutory and auditable obligations. You will develop, plan and deliver compliance training, including scheduling, recording and maintaining records. This role will also require you to ensure all operational training requirements are planned in advance, managed and executed in accordance with operational and process requirements. Importantly to the role is your accurate and timely advice on compliance relating to Health and Safety in the mining industry.

To be successful within this role you will have the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients, you will have excellent written and oral communication, high level awareness of cultural sensitivity and  have a "be of service" approach.

To be considered, you will have:

  • An unwavering commitment to safe work practices
  • Several years' experience in a similar role where you've developed knowledge of and skills in planning, developing, coordinating and presenting competency based training programs
  • Current high risk mobile equipment licenses
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • A Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Strong experience within a Mining or Industrial environment is essential
  • Ability to deliver training in confined space and safe work at heights would be advantageous

For this opportunity, MMG Century is offering a  8/6 commute roster from Townsville, Cairns, Mt Isa or Gulf Communities with full relocation assistance to preferred interstate or overseas candidates. Remuneration includes competitive base salary, site allowance, quarterly bonus incentive scheme and a range of salary sacrifice options.
