The group currently has mining operations located in Australia and Asia and a large portfolio of advanced and early stage exploration projects through Australia, Asia and North America.
The Golden Grove underground base and precious metals mine in Western Australia produces concentrates of zinc, copper and lead with precious metals. Currently we are operating the Gossan Hill mine and have recently re-opened our Scuddles mine which was previously on care and maintenance. In early 2012 we will be creating an open pit mine and aim to expand on our recent exploration success.
Due to a recent promotion we are now looking for a Senior Resource Geologist to join the team at Golden Grove.
Reporting to the Chief Geologist, you will assist with the effective functioning of the Mine Geology team. This involves ensuring the timely generation of geological resource estimations and that all geological models and associated data are stored correctly and properly validated for accuracy. Additionally you will be responsible for:

Reporting to the Chief Geologist, you will assist with the effective functioning of the Mine Geology team. This involves ensuring the timely generation of geological resource estimations and that all geological models and associated data are stored correctly and properly validated for accuracy. Additionally you will be responsible for:
- Fostering a culture of safe work practices
- Coordinating the completion of digital geological models in consultation with the Project Mine Geologist-Resources
- Generating geological resource block models to a timeline that is integrated with mine planning and Corporate requirements
- Providing detailed geological advice to other Departments
- Supervision and mentoring of the Geological Database Administrator
- Supervision, training and mentoring of the Mine and Resource Geologists so they are able to generate geological models and resource block models and they understand geostatistical methods and procedures.
- Managing the geological data management and data quality control process
- Providing monthly and other technical reports and associated documentation.
With substantial experience within an underground mining environment you will have both well developed technical skills and personal attributes including the following:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology
- The ability to successfully lead and motivate teams of people
- Strong understanding of the JORC code
- Able to sign off resources as a competent person
- Drill program planning and implementation experience
- Solid knowledge of geostatistics and variography
- Strong computer skills with mining software, ideally Vulcan
- An unwavering commitment to workplace safety
This is a great career opportunity for a motivated Senior Resource Geologist who is looking to expand their capabilities within a supportive team environment. This permanent position will commute on a roster of 8 days on/6 days off, FIFO from either Perth or Geraldton. Accommodation and meals are provided in a comfortable modern camp with a wireless internet connection, swimming pool, fully equipped gym, Foxtel, beach volleyball, outdoor cricket pitch and tennis courts.
