The Rosebery Mine is a polymetallic underground mine in Tasmania. It has been in operation since 1936 and has potential to extend its mine life beyond 2030. 

The key purpose of this role is to provide mine planning and general mining engineering support to the Mining Department as well as to produce mineable stope and development designs that optimise the mine's profitability and sustainability in line with the company's goals and objectives. 

The key challenge you will face in this role will be to provide stope and ventilation designs and schedules that respond to short term needs but that incorporate the life of mine plan. An additional challenge will be to effectively plan for and provide designs and schedules that that are able to meet forecasted production targets taking into account significant changes to grade and increasing depth of the Rosebery Mine. 

In order to successfully navigate these challenges, you will be tasked with: 

• Producing safe, practical and optimised development and stope designs
• Timely communicating of changes to the mine physicals for stope and development designs to minimise the impact on the mine schedule
• Planning primary ventilation and mine infrastructure (emergency egress, electrical reticulation, pumping and drainage and mine services)
• Assisting with Ore Reserves and mining inventory calculations
• Communicating regularly and effectively with stakeholders to ensure their understanding and acceptance of mine designs
• Ensuring compliance with MMG's management systems and all statutory and legal standards
• Improving and maintaining relevant site procedures and work practices
• Practising continuous technical improvement 

We require you to be an experienced Mine Planner. As a guide, we would expect around 3 - 4 years experience in an underground mine, ideally one that consisted predominantly of base metals. In considering your application, we will look for demonstrated experience with bench stope design and stope shape design, ventilation design, contribution to safe development design as well as drill and blast design and scheduling. It is essential that you are able to confidently articulate your mine designs to the operations team to carry out the work safely and accurately. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering are essential. Working knowledge of Mine24D is highly desirable.
