MRM is one-hour’s flight from Darwin. We have built our own airport and fly our workforce on comfortable Airnorth jets.
Village facilities
Our village is located just 2 km from the mine site. Travel between the site and village is via an air-conditioned bus, although many people choose to make the short journey by foot.
We are well-known for our excellent food. Breakfast and dinner are served daily in the dry mess with a selection of healthy foods as well as special treats. Crib facilities are available for you to pack your own lunches and snacks.
The majority of the rooms have en-suites and all are serviced by satellite televisions, including movie options. Public telephones are available as well as voice and data services via Telstra’s Next G mobile telephone network. A number of houses are available to managers.
An internet café is located adjacent to the wet mess and free high-speed wireless internet is available.
Social and recreational facilities
The village is set among extensive gardens and boasts a swimming pool, gym, tennis and basketball courts, volleyball court, indoor cricket facilities, covered BBQ area, theatre room, a golf driving range, a clay target range and walking tracks.
Our gym is available 24 hours a day with a full range of cardio and weight facilities. Weekly core balance or pilates classes are available.
Our 24-hour crib room offers tea and coffee-making facilities, television and free internet terminals.
The wet mess is open for limited hours in the morning and evening and includes a bar, a shop with essential supplies, televisions, a pool table and a darts board.
A purpose-built movie theatre has all the latest movies and is available 24 hours a day.
McArthur River Mine maintains a fishing cottage at King Ash Bay, which is available for rent by employees and their guests.
Health services
The site and village are serviced by trained paramedics who are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The First Aid Post is fully equipped to provide frontline care in most emergencies. If required, aeromedical care and evacuation is provided by CareFlight. There are regular visits by a doctor to site.
Our medics take responsibility for monitoring daily alcohol breath testing and random drug sampling. MRM has a zero tolerance policy and anyone found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be refused entry to the site and offered counselling.
